I was delighted when Lelo approached me to offer me the opportunity to test and review their Ida couples massager.
Having seen the Ida via video prior its release I was intrigued as to how it would work. It looks like a probe mounted on a flying saucer. Hey, I have a vivid imagination, especially when I’m excited!
The internal “finger” rotates creating g-spot massage and cock stimulation for the partner. And all controlled via a motion sensitive wireless remote control.
Sounds good up to now.
The packaging of the Lelo Ida is the standard demure black glossy finish box complete with an image of the contents. Within is a matt black box with velveteen lining housing the Ida massager, 2 pin charger, product registration card complete with 10 year quality guarantee, black satin drawstring storage pouch and Ida / Tara (non remote version) manual.
I put the Ida on charge but couldn’t help wondering how the bulbous base would sit on my pudenda and how the ample probe would work when engaged in intercourse.
Using the plastic key provided I unlocked the battery compartment of the remote control to insert the batteries provided and washed the Lelo Ida ready for use.
The Ida can be operated in 3 ways, the first is to turn the remote from horizontal (10% intensity) to vertical which gives 100% intensity of vibration. The second is controlled via speed on movement e.g. moving the control in rapid circles to increase the speed of vibration. The third method of control is accessed as are all the others via the () button and you use the + & – buttons to move through the modes.
But let’s move on and take a look at her finer qualities.
- The Ida can be used with or without its remote control. Simply use the control button on the base of the massager.
- Offers 2 hours of fun from 2 hours of charge. When charging the red light on the Ida flashes and when fully charged is constant.
- Once charged has a standby time of up to 90 days.
- Has 8 synchronized rotation and vibration patterns (6 Standard, 2 Motion-Sensitive).
- Is quiet in operation.
- Can be used in the bathroom as its 100% waterproof. 😉
Usually at this point in my reviews you are led by the hand to my boudoir to share my pleasure. Unfortunately in this case I couldn’t extend the invitation as the experience with the Ida wasn’t that engaging.
So her it is …
I slipped the Ida inside me with ease but once in there she didn’t want to sit nuzzled in the warmth. She kept on trying to escape the moist confines of my cave.
Pushing her back inside I attempted to sample her vibratory goodness. Yes, the remote worked as I motioned through her settings but unfortunately I felt I was losing her as she steadily slipped out of my vagina.
The remote on this sex toy worked far more efficiently than the last Lelo remote controlled product I used. This time is was the shape of the Ida seemed to be working against her, least in this 5’ 6” lady. The dimensions and fit of the Ida were in complete opposition to my internal configuration.
To enable the internal probe to sit anywhere near to my g-spot I had to slip the bulky outer battery unit between my labia making the unit point upwards due to the lack of internal length and flexibility. This meant that there was no way that any guy would be able to angle his cock inside me.
This situation coupled with the fact that the internal probe’s circumference was ample meant that comfortable intercourse wasn’t going to happen. My partner would need to have a “pencil” dick to get in there alongside the Ida.
I have to admit that I am slightly dismayed at Lelo for producing a toy which didn’t work with me at all. In the past I have used every Lelo toy I’ve tested with enthusiasm and derived great pleasure from them but I just don’t seem to be able to get this one to deliver in the same way.
For a combination of reasons, maybe my height, the geometry of my pubic region or whatever I simply can’t get the Ida to work for me and my partner. So I have to say that my experience of this well made, beautifully presented sex toy is that I simply could not use it. Other similar “couples toys” do work for me but the Ida just didn’t.
